The Carpathian Basin International Piano Competition will be held for the first time as part of the Carpathian Basin Classical Music Festival on 21-23 September 2021 at the King St. Stephen High School of Music. (1145 Budapest, Columbus utca 11.)
The International Piano Competition’s aim is to discover young talents. It is open to young piano students between the ages of 10-19 from the Carpathian Basin countries of Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine.

The programme of the Gala Concert will be decided by the jury. Attendance at the prize-giving ceremony is expected and is a condition of receiving the prize. The jury will grant an exemption to this only in exceptional circumstances.
The competition will be organized in 3 age groups Age group I: children born between 1 September 2008 and 30 August 2011 Age group II: those born between 1 September 2005 and 30 August 2008 Age group III: those born between 1 September 2002 and 30 August 2005
Competition material At least two works of different style and character, one of which must be a piano work by Béla Bartók or Zoltán Kodály. Age group I: 5-7 minutes. Age group II: 7-10 minutes. Age group III: 10-13 minutes. The time allowed for each category must be respected! The jury reserves the right to stop the performance of any competitor who exceeds the time limit.
Entry fee: 8000 Ft or 25 Euro The entry fee is non-refundable. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation. Information on accommodation options will be provided on request after registration closes.
