Jutta BOKOR mezzo

Soloist and ambassador of the Hungarian State Opera House, and a singer of Lieder and oratorio, Bokor studied with Márta Ónody, Gabriella Déry and Yevgeny Nesterenko. She was awarded second prize at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition in 1985. She sang in the Vienna Volksoper from 1985 to 1990, and also appeared on the stage of Opéra de Montréal, Prague Opera House, Janáček Opera Brno, and in several opera festivals at home and abroad. She worked as a presenter for the afternoon music programme of Bartók Radio, and also presented programmes for a number of other classical music broadcasts. She taught international mastercourses at home and abroad alike. Since 2005 she has been head of the board of the Bartók Music House Rákoshegy, where she has organized classical music courses, folk music and music educational competitions, and has created new works of which she is also the director. In addition, she is organizing and presenting classical music concerts and interactive programmes for children. She devised and directed a children’s opera, Bogáncs, which was also performed at the Hungarian State Opera House. She has inspired contemporary composers to write new works and short operas for children, among them two by Árpád Balázs. She was awarded the Artisjus, Bartók–Pásztory, For Budapest and Pro Cultura Rákosmente prizes.
